Cinderella Princess Carriage Cake

I love pink, lace, ribbons, and sparkles. So, it’s no surprise that I get more joy out of dressing my daughter than my son.  I feel like girls just have the cutest clothes, shoes, accessories…and, now—even birthday cake!

I stumbled upon this princess carriage cake tutorial on Pinterest. I knew it would be a challenge because it was my first time working with gumpaste and making my own fondant, but I was up for it.

Making and coloring the marshmallow fondant was actually pretty easy--and it tasted delicious. I made the wheels two days before, so they had enough time to dry before attaching them to the cake. The process made me realize that I need to work on rolling nice even sausages or maybe buy a Sugar Craft Clay Gun .

I used royal icing as "glue" to attach the dried gumpaste pieces. This was a nightmare and very frustrating! I had clumps of dried icing all over the wheels from constant reconstructive surgery.

We went to my grandparent's house to celebrate her birthday along with my brother's. My brother's birthday happens to be just a few days before my daughter' I made him custom football cookies, using my perfect cookie recipe.

What are some of your favorite girly cake themes?

Valentine's Day Cookies & Cheesecake

I've never really done anything big or surprising on Valentine's day. I usually run to the supermarket the day before to buy a card and some goodies. Store-bought desserts can certainly be tasty, but nothing says "I love you," quite like homemade treats.

I used Sweetamb's "Simple Valentine's Day Cookies" tutorial as a guide to make these delicious heart shaped cookies.

Since my hubby doesn't like cake (I know, the horror!) I decided to go in a slightly different direction and make a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. This recipe calls for some unusual equipment (a medicine syringe!) but it's actually surprisingly simple to make.

As you can see, this past Valentine's day was my sweetest one yet! What did you bake for your sweetheart on Valentine's day?

Superbowl Cake & Cupcakes

Admittedly, I’m not much of a sport's fan...but even I heard about the Deflate-Gate scandal!  It was one of the main pre-Super Bowl talking points, so I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. To make light of the situation (see what I did there?), I decided to make my own deflated football---out of cake!

First time using fondant.

I also made Super Bowl cupcakes using this tutorial. (I used Junior Mints for the tiny footballs instead of chocolate covered almonds.) I know absolutely nothing about football, so I made a 60-yard cupcake and a 70-yard cupcake before I thought to ask my husband how many yard lines are actually on a football field. Oops.

excuse the picture quality.

Little finger's got into the "grass."

What did you bake for the Super Bowl this year? Did any of your baked goods poke fun at the Deflate-Gate scandal?

Sharing is Caring!
