Cinderella Princess Carriage Cake

I love pink, lace, ribbons, and sparkles. So, it’s no surprise that I get more joy out of dressing my daughter than my son.  I feel like girls just have the cutest clothes, shoes, accessories…and, now—even birthday cake!

I stumbled upon this princess carriage cake tutorial on Pinterest. I knew it would be a challenge because it was my first time working with gumpaste and making my own fondant, but I was up for it.

Making and coloring the marshmallow fondant was actually pretty easy--and it tasted delicious. I made the wheels two days before, so they had enough time to dry before attaching them to the cake. The process made me realize that I need to work on rolling nice even sausages or maybe buy a Sugar Craft Clay Gun .

I used royal icing as "glue" to attach the dried gumpaste pieces. This was a nightmare and very frustrating! I had clumps of dried icing all over the wheels from constant reconstructive surgery.

We went to my grandparent's house to celebrate her birthday along with my brother's. My brother's birthday happens to be just a few days before my daughter's...so I made him custom football cookies, using my perfect cookie recipe.

What are some of your favorite girly cake themes?
